ANGRY BENS OFFICIAL 2018 NYC CHRISTMAS FORECAST

ANGRY BENS OFFICIAL 2018 NYC CHRISTMAS FORECAST

Good morning everyone. Things in the area are starting to clear out from west to east and we should see the sun in New York City for the first time in several days. Meanwhile, it looks as if the Hail-Mary pass I threw back on November 30th for Christmas, has hit its mark.

EASTERN SATELLITE

storm free

For today, the sun breaks out for a little while, then we could see some low clouds move in by late afternoon. It all depends if any lake effect gets going, combined with some leftover energy ahead of the cold air. If the energy can make it, we could see a light shower in the afternoon; but if it arrives in the early eve, we could see some wet snowflakes. This is one of those things that not everyone will see and the action (if any) will be scattered. Highs today in the low to mid 40’s, however, a strong gusty west wind will make it feel like the 20’s out there.

Overnight, we cool down considerably and that wind keeps going. Look for lows in the mid to upper 20’s, possibly low 20’s away from the City, and wind chills in the teens.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Full sun returns tomorrow but the wind remains. We’ll only get into the low to mid 30’s tomorrow as the core of the cold air drifts over us and expect wind chills in the 20’s. We finally turn off the wind tomorrow night as we sink into the mid 20’s. Don’t be surprised to see some upper teens N&W of the City, as well as the Pine Barrens out on Long Island.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

We begin to warm up slowly on Wednesday, with sunny skies and seasonably cool temps; highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Clouds begin to slowly increase as our next system begins its approach, but we’ll be in the warm sector on this one; highs in the upper 40’s.

Low pressure looks to go well north and west of our area on Friday as another broad system hits the area. This one has the potential to give us more rain than this weekend’s system, so keep a lookout for localized flooding in the notoriously prone areas. Highs Friday a seasonably-mild mid to upper 50’s.

For our weekend, things should clear out by mid-Saturday and the sun returns. This should pave the way for our approach to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Expect mid to upper 40’s Saturday with clearing skies and windy conditions; then a windy and seasonably cool Sunday, highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
storm free

For Christmas Eve day, things are looking sunny, blustery, and seasonably cool; highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. If things go right, we should sink into the 20’s overnight, then bounce back for another sunny day for Christmas Day as we should wind up in-between systems.

So for your first official Christmas Day forecast, expect sunny skies as of now, a windy start with subsiding winds, highs a seasonably cool but comfortable low 40’s.
