BEAUTIFUL NYC SUNDAY TROPICS NOT DONE YET
Good morning everyone, we have another beautiful, seasonal day today here in New York City. However, some warmth is coming back and now is not the time to write the tropics off yet.
EASTERN SATELLITE
First and foremost, bright sunshine rules once again; with low humidity and very light winds. We’ll have highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s in most areas. Clouds return overnight as warmer air tries to head in for tomorrow. It won’t be too bad, but you’ll feel the difference compared to today, with a warmer southwest wind, sound and clouds, and highs in the low to mid 70’s tomorrow.
REGIONAL RADAR
Warm, southwest winds continue for Tuesday and our humidity will increase a notch. Look for highs in the 75-80 range with the slight chance of an afternoon shower or storm. Wednesday and Thursday continue to look warm, with highs continuing in the upper 70’s to low 80’s (cooler at the shore).
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
As next weekend nears, we continue to have to watch how everything plays out. Warm air to our west will fight it out with a slightly cooler, maritime push. This could mean anything from stubborn clouds hanging around with a few showers possible, to being on the tropical side with mid 70’s to low 80’s. So for now, we will continue to stop at Thursday until the picture is more clear.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

For the Tropics, Hurricane Rosa continues to play a role in our medium range pattern. The pacific is very active this year, much as it was in the 80’s. During that time, the active Pacific caused wild swings in our temperatures as fall wanted to come in. We’d have days in the 50’s and days in the upper 70’s to low 80’s until everything calmed down.
For those excited for fall, with the cooler temps and cooler waters, I know some want to write our hurricane season off; but this is the time where we have to watch the southern Caribbean and old. stalled out fronts for development. October is the time of year where development is not your typical classic variety, but more “unorthodox” and the type that can become extra-tropical. This is something I’ve been discussing for several weeks now. As we know in the past, extra-tropical or post-tropical systems can cause just as much a headache as your classic tropical system.
Stay tuned as we continue to pinpoint late week next week, and while there are no immediate threats from the tropics, we’ll continue to watch it all the way to the end for anything that could pop up.
