BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND PRECEDES ONE NYC HOT DAY – Good afternoon everyone! We have a beautiful weekend unfolding as we await the final passage of some upper level energy. Even so, sunny skies and warm temps will prevail today, before and after the transit of some scattered storms.
The sun is heating up that atmosphere very well and interacting with that cool core of air, touching off storms upstate and in central Pennsylvania. We’ll keep an eye on them and see if they can make it to our area before the sun goes down. If not, everything fizzles out late evening. The biggest threat with these storms will be some small hail (especially upstate), gusty winds, and brief heavy rain. We dry out completely overnight and we’ll have a beautiful sunny day tomorrow, with low humidity and highs in the low to mid 80’s.
Pretty much the same for Monday, but temps and humidity notch up a little bit and highs in the mid 80’s. Hot weather returns for one day on Tuesday for highs near 90. The heat and humidity may spark off some pretty good thunderstorms in the afternoon as a front nears the area to cool things down for Wednesday. Instability sticks around mid week into late week, with clouds and sun, chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day, and highs in the low to mid 80’s.
Thus, the pattern continues of no prolonged hot weather. I also continue to be unimpressed with the tropics as of now, which is why I haven’t discussed any of the hype that was in the news last week. I’ll continue to keep an eye on any waves, but this pattern is not tropical friendly unless the atmosphere suddenly relaxes.
