Big Stretch of Hot & Muggy Conditions Return to NYC

Good afternoon everyone. Today is a big transition day as we begin to pivot back into hot & muggy conditions. We could be in for a big stretch, with prolonged 90 degree or near 90 temps look to hold through at least midweek next week; possibly longer. We’ll also see the risk of showers & storms today; then scattered, typical-summer variety throughout the forecast period.

SATELLITE

Clouds rule for most of the day today, with the chance of a few scattered showers & storms. The best chance to see some action, will be west of the NYC area, but we can’t rule out something coming onshore. Highs today in the muggy low 80’s if we see some sun later.

WEATHER RADAR

Look for clouds & sun, hot and humid conditions both tomorrow and Friday. The best risk will be on Friday as the heat resets and the boundary fights back. Highs both days in the near 90/low 90 range. We’ll have the slight risk of a PM storm on Saturday with more 90 degree temps, then sunny & no storms Sunday with near 90 again.

To start your workweek, Monday looks mostly sunny and hot with highs near 90 again. Add some thunderstorms in the mix on Tuesday, and we get near 90 again. As with most summers, any of these storms could be locally severe during the forecast period.
