COOL NYC TODAY NEEDED RAIN STARTS TONIGHT
COOL NYC TODAY NEEDED RAIN STARTS TONIGHT – Good morning everyone! Cool air has moved in with the help of south southeasterly winds ahead of a overrunning area of moisture quickly moving in. Clouds will increase today and thicken/lower throughout the day, highs will only make it into the the mid to upper 50’s in most areas. Light to moderate rain will begin late tonight and will be scattered in nature, lasting into tomorrow afternoon. For tomorrow’s rain, we could see a few rumbles of thunder before midday as slightly warmer air heads in temporarily, highs in the lows 60’s. The chance of scattered periods of steady rain and a thundershower continue Thursday night.
For Friday, warmer air is with us, but it’s short-lived. Fog and showers will hand around in the morning, with partial clearing by early afternoon. Depending on how much sun we get, we could achieve 70-75 before things cool off slightly overnight. Saturday looks to be the best day of the weekend, with sunny skies and highs in the mid 60’s before another system heads in for Sunday. Clouds will increase overnight Saturday and showers will head in by daybreak on Sunday. A chance of some steadier rain will increase by Sunday afternoon, cool, highs in the mid to upper 50’s. The gloom will be with us through Monday as the system is slow to depart, but we’ll be slightly warmer as the chance of rain decreases, highs in the low to mid 60’s. The sun looks to return on Tuesday and things will begin to dry out, highs again in the low to mid 60’s, but it’ll feel warmer with bright sunshine.
In the long range, milder air, drier, and more quiet weather looks to return mid-week next week and remain with us into the first few days of May. We’ll begin to transit into mid to upper 60’s, then possibly mid to upper 70’s before the warm air returns back to normal towards to the end of the first week of May. We could also see our first true round of spring Thunderstorms when this warmer air comes to an end, in which we will keep an eye on, but it’s wayyyyy out for now.
