In regards to Thursday’s possible snow, I have put up an experimental snow accumulation map according to the latest models and if the scenario stays true. Keep in mind that adjustments will have to be made as time goes on, but this will show you the potential on what exactly we’re dealing with.

EXPERIMENTAL THURSDAY NYC SNOW MAP – This will be a quick moving, compact system. Timing is key and snow totals are actually held down by the speed of this system, as well as possible rain changing to snow at the immediate coast. Areas north and west of the city, plus the forks of Long Island stand the best potential for highest accumulations due to elevation related convection to our north, and the system become more powerful as it exits the forks.
NAM MODEL
Of all of the models, the NAM has been our best friend as far as short range forecasting. An upper level low lagging behind the big system for tomorrow and Wednesday, will trek across the Kentucky, W Virginia area, before reaching the coast and blowing up to spread a compact but heavy area of precip into our area. This will be a heavy, wet, fast accumulating snow.

Satellite shows our system for tomorrow, but the upper level low is hard to find right now as it’s rather weak and hidden in the upper Rockies.
