Fairly Decent NYC Spring Weekend Ahead With Warm Monday Possible

Good afternoon everyone. After a sunny and mild start this morning, we have a batch of showers on the way towards the New York City area. They should be brief in nature and then we’ll have a break before the next batch associated with our cold front moves in. Meanwhile, our weekend is looking pretty good. Not perfect, but much better than out last few weekends and much milder. After that, Monday has the potential to be a warm one if we get enough sun.

Showers are starting to move in and should be here between 12:45pm till around 2:30 or so. Temps will cool off a bit and into the upper 60’s/low 70’s, then if the sun returns a little bit before our next batch, we may pop back into a mid 70 and humid type day till sunset.

It’ll be a breezy one this afternoon and we could also see a rumble of thunder.

REGIONAL RADAR

Today’s action will help clear a path towards a sunny and dry weekend start tomorrow. It’ll be comfortable with relatively low humidity and highs in the 70-75 realm in most spots.

Sunday remains so-so but mild. Clouds will begin to creep in Saturday night with our next system, then we’ll have clouds and sun all day Sunday. There will be a slight chance of a shower, but I think we remain dry for the most part. Highs Sunday in the mid 70’s in most spots except cooler at the shore.

The best chance for showers and storms will be Monday, but timing is key as far as how our day plays out temp-wise. For most of the day, we’ll be east of the cold front, which puts us in the warm sector. However, the seabreeze will be strong with this one and the timing of clouds/precip could hamper high temps.

If we get more sun, expect 80-85 degree temps in spots, with upper 60’s/low 70’s at the immediate shore. More sun could also fuel a few hefty storms as well, so we need to keep an eye on all of this.

Tuesday and Wednesday are holding strong for sunny, dry, and comfortable days. Then, Thursday onward remains questionable. We know a system arrives on Thursday and kicks out, but like today, it’ll be attached to a much broader system out near the Rockies.

We could start off our Memorial Day Weekend nice, but a backdoor front stalling near the area could hamper Saturday evening onward. Right now we have a long way to go, and nothing is written in stone yet.

Stay tuned.
