Fairly Quiet NYC Stretch Ahead With Building Heat

Fairly Quiet NYC Stretch Ahead With Building Heat

Good morning everyone. For those up and out already, we have a cloudy start to the day and temps in the low 70’s throughout the area. We have a pretty quiet pattern ahead aside from an isolated shower or storm here and there; and the biggest story will be the return of some hot weather.

Don’t let today fool you that summer is over, he’s just in the corner resting in between rounds. Expect mostly cloudy skies today, maybe a random patch of blue here and there, and the chance of an isolated shower or rumble. Most of the action will be relegated to inland spots, but we could see a stray one pop up as an easterly flow helps bring in some moisture. Highs today in the upper 70’s to low 80’s (patchy sunshine-dependent).

Tomorrow, we’ll see a little bit more sunshine and our winds will take on a more southerly component. This will help pump in more warmth and humidity into the area, with low 80’s more widespread. Mid 80’s are possible in spots if we introduce some extra sunshine. An isolated afternoon shower or storm is possible as well.

On Sunday, mid summer returns in a big way. Expect clouds and sun, very warm/hot and humid, and the chance of an afternoon storm. Highs in the upper 80’s to near 90.

Summer weather continues to start the week and Monday is looking like the hottest day of the bunch; with mostly sunny skies, humid conditions, and highs in the low 90’s possible. A few clouds return on Tuesday and that should drop us a few degrees, but upper 80’s to near 90 is still possible. With the increase in moisture, look for the chance of afternoon storms. Again, most of the action will be inland, but a stray one is still on the table.

Mid-week, we continue to increase that moisture, while keeping warm air in place. Temps will drop into the mid 80’s with less sun, but it’ll still feel like July as those dew points and heat indexes keep us feeling just as uncomfortable. We’ll also increase the chance of showers and storms, but no washouts are expected.

The following weekend continues to look average to slightly above; and how warm we go will all depend on how much sunshine we get. In this pattern we’ve been in, fronts haven’t been moving through very cleanly, and I expect no different come late week next week/weekend.
