Fast Moving Nor’easter To Hit NYC Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. More snow is on it’s way tomorrow, and that system is gathering the energy it needs as we speak. It’ll be a fast moving one, sparing us from another crippling hit, but it will be enough where plows are needed and there will be some headaches for those who have to be out in it.

For today, we have a sunny one with stiff westerlies. Expect highs near 40, but it’ll feel colder with that breeze. Clouds increase overnight, and we’ll have the slight chance of some light snow before sunrise.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

The best chance for snow comes tomorrow mid-morning until early/late afternoon. The heaviest snow should be that mid-morning to early afternoon window, before it tapers off quickly to light snow and then ending.

FINAL SNOW CALL

Our system is pretty straightforward and the snow accumulation map easy to make this time around. Yesterday morning, long before NWS came out with their amounts, I said to keep in your mind a 4-8″ type system. However, Mother Nature always has a few tricks up her sleeve, which is why I added a “Bust Zone” and a “+” to that 4-8″. Depending on how close that low gets, we may see some mixing or maybe even some rain along the south shore of Long Island and the East End (East End being the highest risk). If it doesn’t happen and the rain/snow line stays just to the south, this is the area where you may see the “+” in that 4-8″; so not only are they in the Bust Zone, but they also have the best chance to see some higher amounts if it doesn’t bust.

As always, we’ll keep an eye on the radar to see where the heaviest snow sets up. Everything is gone by tomorrow evening, and you better get it cleaned up before that wet snow turns into a solid block. Temps overnight tomorrow are going to dip into the upper teens.

Monday remains looking sunny and cold with highs near 30. Tuesday we cloud up with a weak system passing to our north, and that’ll give us a slight chance of some passing cold rain or snow showers.

Meanwhile, we are watching next weekend for another possible system, and if that one organizes, it could be our most powerful system of the season so far. That being said, powerful doesn’t always equate to snow.

Stay Tuned.
