First Fall Day Today Could Near Ninety Karen Issues For Southeast Coast Possible
Happy first day of July, I mean fall. It’ll feel like July today with an extra window of sunshine beaming in a few more degrees of heat. Also, I’ll be keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Karen throughout the week because our warm weekend up here could bring trouble for the Southeast.
SATELLITE
The satellite is clear today with that front hanging off to our west. Clouds will slowly creep in, but not before NYC will see upper 80’s today. Could some spots see 90 on our first day of fall? It wouldn’t surprise me.
REGIONAL RADAR
A narrow band of rain is also slowly moving east, but most of the energy is going into upstate NY, New England, and Canada. NYC could see a shower or storm tonight, although the action will be scattered. That’ll bring comfortable weather for tomorrow and Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 70’s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Late in the week, Thursday will be slightly warmer and in the low 80’s with favorable winds. Then NYC will cool off slightly on Friday back into the upper 70’s before 80’s return again next weekend.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
The warm weather up here next weekend could signal a problem for the Southeast with Tropical Storm Karen. Karen is expected to turn north and enter the Atlantic at some point mid to late week. At the same time, high pressure will protect the Northeast, just offshore enough to pump in warmer air. This means steering currents could turn Karen westward and row her right into the Southeast, then into the Gulf. Look for more updates throughout the week.
