HOT DRY NYC DAY SLIGHT STORM CHANCE – Good morning everyone. Our second day of summer has arrived to start our May off in style, and help our trees and flowers play catchup. We’ll have everything the summer has to offer except oppressive humidity and warm ocean temps; we have a long way to go for that.

Look for bright sunshine most of the day, then some puffy clouds popping up as we head into afternoon. We notch up the humidity slightly, but it’ll be nothing like late June through August can offer. We’ll also have the slight chance of a thunderstorm, but the air is so dry, it’s going to be hard to get anything widespread going. Most of the action will probably be inland and the biggest threat would be heavy rain and pea-size hail. We go for 90’s again today and some parts of Brooklyn and Queens may even see some mid 90’s pop. Winds will also be gusty in the afternoon similar to yesterday.

Lows tonight only drop into the upper 60’s to low 70’s for a summery night-feel, then we bring back the heat one more time again tomorrow. The humidity gets a little bump as our front nears, giving us another chance of a scattered storm in the afternoon. Expect highs 85-90 tomorrow in most areas aside from the cooler coast, plus gusty winds again.

Saturday looks to hold onto above normal temps, but much cooler and in the mid 70’s. We’ll have clouds and sun with the slight chance of a few scattered showers. Sunday remains to look iffy in my opinion as moisture gets fed into the area from the south. As of now, look for a showery day and highs in the mid to upper 60’s.

The long range continues to point to periods of slightly above normal temps and 3-4 day blocks of well above normal temps. While low 70’s will be commonplace, 80’s and even some 90’s again want to make a few appearances. After a well below average April, May looks to be above average overall.
