LONG MOISTURE FETCH CREATES NYC SUNDAY RAINOUT – Good late morning everyone. As I slowly wake up and take my time starting the day, I feel blessed that my first day of vacation is a wet one and not a snowy one.
On and off periods of steady rain, heavy at times, will be with us all day. Expect 1-3″ total out of this cold front stretched from the northeast to the Gulf, highs near 50. Rain continues tonight and anything steady should be gone by just after midnight, then a slight chance of some scattered showers until around sunrise tomorrow.
Tomorrow we’ll have a light breeze, with decreasing clouds, and highs in the low to mid 40’s. On Tuesday, we drop a bit into the upper 30’s, then cloud up overnight as warmer air tries to move back in. Look for a light chance of a light wintry mix, with anything turning to all rain before sunrise Wednesday.
Valentine’s Day on Wednesday continues to look nice, with morning clouds, afternoon sun, and highs near 50. We warm up further on Thursday, but it’ll be system related as clouds increase and so does the chance of showers. The ups and downs continue throughout, with Friday cooling off again and at least the first part of next weekend looking normal to slightly below normal temp-wise.
In the long range, very cold air and moderate to big snow remain elusive as of this very moment.
