RAINY NYC WEEKEND VALENTINES DAY GIFT
RAINY NYC WEEKEND VALENTINES DAY GIFT
RAINY NYC WEEKEND VALENTINES DAY GIFT – Good morning everyone. A large swath of moisture is heading our way as two areas of energy combine from the west and southwest to give us a good soaking. Basically, the weekend is going to be an amazing time, if you’re a duck and like 50 degree temps.
Look for thickening and lowering clouds all morning, then rain will creep in by early afternoon in most places. Southwesterly winds will be light and the area should be a uniform 50 degrees or so. Rain, heavy at times, continues tonight, and we could hear a few rumbles of thunder. Expect lows not to drop much if anything at all.
Tomorrow will pretty much be a washout, with periods of steady rain all day, heavy at times, and highs in the low 50’s. As of this moment, we have no flood watches in the area. However, I am concerned with all of this rain we’ve had, and we could see some flooding in poor drainage areas, as well as ponding in areas we typically don’t see flooding. This is due to the ground being so saturated with the last few bouts of rain we’ve had in close precession.
Rain continues into late evening tomorrow, then we finally begin to clear out for Monday. Look for sun and clouds, a northwesterly breeze, and highs in the mid to upper 40’s. We stumble a little bit on Tuesday as a weak overrunning area of moisture approaches us. Highs will be more normal and in the realm of upper 30’s to near 40, then a chance of some mixed precip overnight.
This however sets us up for a beautiful Valentine’s Day on Wednesday. So far we are expecting early clouds, late morning/afternoon sun, and highs near 50. If we can squeeze out a little more sun earlier, we could see low to mid 50’s. Mid 50’s continue on Thursday, but with a few more clouds as a weak system moves across the area. As of now, it’s looking so unorganized, that we may not see anything at all as far as precip.
We cool off into the low 40’s Friday, and watch another weak system for late Friday into Saturday. As of now we’re looking at maybe another light bout of mixed precip to rain at most. It’s very possible it could also slip by without little fanfare.
In the long range, I still continue to question how cold we get and for how long. So far I’m not impressed and remain thinking that we just continue on with the pattern we have in place now – a very cold day here, a seasonable day there, and a mild day ahead of a system before we rinse and repeat. Again, winter is not over and there’s always the chance a big system on the right path could change our destiny snow-wise, but as of this very moment, there’s nothing on the radar.
