LONG RANG OUTLOOK FIRST AUTUMN PUSH COMING

LONG RANG OUTLOOK FIRST AUTUMN PUSH COMING

Good morning everyone. The tragedy down south in the Carolinas with Florence continues to unfold, with the second chapter in the form of flooding, beginning to reveal itself. We will get a taste of Florence early in the week, but it’ll be very minor compared to what is going on now. Meanwhile, we have a beautiful weekend going on and an interesting long range outlook.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Radar is quiet for us and we’ll have sun and clouds around all day. The tropical air and periods of sun will help get us to near 80 as puffy, low, grey clouds from Florence transit through. Tomorrow we go for low 80’s and continued tropical air with a little bit of extra sun.

To start the week, clouds thicken up on Monday and it’ll be a muggy one as Florence begins her slow approach to the west of us; highs in the upper 70’s. Expect rain to move in late Monday night/before sunrise Tuesday. Look for showery conditions on Tuesday, with a few of those showers being gusty/squally in nature. The rain we’ll be seeing is a combination of Florence’s remnants and a Florence-enhanced front that’ll transit through, so there’s nothing to panic about; it’s just a rainy day.

On Wednesday we clear out and the sun will help us get to near 80 again, then we cool off temporarily on Thursday with low 70’s before we get some front-related low 80’s on Friday.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

For next weekend, cooler air starts to work in behind a vigorous front that pass through some time between Friday night and early Saturday morning. Due to the timing, it doesn’t look like it’ll have much rain with it, but we’ll keep an eye on it for any changes. Temps will remain steady Saturday, then drop through the low 70’s as we go through the day. For next Sunday, it’s quite possible we don’t get out of the 60’s with sunny skies and breezy conditions, but for now we’ll say upper 60’s to low 70’s for highs.

In the long range, we have a few more opportunities for front-related, one-day, 80 degree hits, but the gears are turning to autumn and the rest of September and into early October is looking very fall-like. Expect reinforcing fronts containing seasonal air, with mid 60’s to low 70’s becoming the majority as opposed to the minority. We’re not talking leaves falling yet or pumpkin spice lattes, but we will see much more comfortable, much less humid weather, with good sleeping temps overnight.
