LONG RANGE NYC FORECAST

LONG RANGE NYC FORECAST – Good afternoon everyone. It was a nice surprise yesterday for those who enjoy snow and winter weather. It’ll stick around for a couple of days as temps will not get above freezing until Tuesday. As for now, the rest of the day will remain cold and blustery, with widely scattered snow showers passing through the area as I type. We’ve reached our high for today of 24 and temps will plummet tonight to near 10 degrees for a low. Wind chills will be dangerous as our breeze continues. For tomorrow, winds calm down and temps again will be in the mid 20’s for a high, with lows moderating and not dropping much, low 20’s. On Tuesday, we have a short over-running situation as a warm front enters the area. Cloudy with a slight chance of some snow between late morning and early afternoon. However, temperatures will be rising into the upper 30’s, then mid 40’s a few hours before sunrise on Wednesday. Wednesday, we’ll be in the warm sector of another system, with a period of steady rain until mid to late afternoon, highs near 50 which will help the snow melt somewhat. The chance of rain lingers behind as several weak waves of energy lag behind the main system. Cloudy Thursday and Friday with a slight chance of rain each day, highs will be in the low 50’s. Saturday will also be cloudy with a slight chance of rain, but highs only in the mid 40’s.

LONG RANGE NYC FORECAST GFS MODEL NEXT WEEKEND

On Sunday and Monday, we watch for another possible over-running situation. Depending on the track of the system, we may see some snow ahead of it, but it’s too far out to even think about it right now, but we’ll keep it on our radar. As I said in previous forecasts, once we got through this weekend, the pattern we’ve seen for the past few weeks resumes. This looks to be the case, with an active train of systems continuing to move across the nation, and us varying between the warm sector and cool sector of these systems. Any type of big snow we see at this point in the near/intermediate range, will probably come in the form of yesterday’s storm – last minute, over-running situations; not a big Nor’easter type system.
