Morning NYC Showers Possible With Wide Range Of Weather Ahead

Good morning everyone. A cooler airmass is completing its transit this morning, bringing with it a few showers before the sun returns under comfortable conditions. Heat and humidity creep back in starting on Friday, and we may hold onto that until mid/late week next week. As stated yesterday though, the fall gears are turning and we have a lineup of cooler air masses ahead, mixed in with a few flailing attempts at some more brief deep summer weather.

Clouds are heading in now and we should have a few light showers in the region over the course of the next few hours. The sun will return early this afternoon, and we should have a very comfortable day with highs in the near 80 to low 80 realm with low humidity.

Sunshine, low humidity, and near 80/low 80 temps march on for tomorrow, but then we have some changes Friday onward.

REGIONAL RADAR

On Friday, you’ll notice a wind shift and slightly warmer temps with mid 80’s throughout the metro area. You’ll also notice an uptick in the dew points, making for a more humid feel to the air. This will set the stage for a very warm/hot weekend.

I don’t think we get full blazing sunshine either day Saturday or Sunday, but it’ll be enough to make for a very deep-summer weekend. Expect highs in the upper 80’s to near 90, very humid, and partly sunny skies. We’ll also throw in the slight chance of an afternoon storm on Sunday. If there is some extra sunshine, near 90 or low 90’s are a good bet.

Monday looks to be a bonus day with the upper 80’s to near 90 before our front begins to near and pass. I’m not sure if there’s much with it moisture-wise, so we’ll keep the chance of a thunderstorm in the forecast, but not everyone will see the action.

If the front is weak on Monday, we could see another day in the upper 80’s on Tuesday, but the humidity should begin to settle down for a brief moment.

I actually think the high humidity and near 90 temps reach back next Wednesday, and possibly Thursday, before a stronger cold front puts an end to this very warm/hot weather stretch. Everything you’re seeing play out, was this 4th very warm/hot stretch we began talking about several weeks ago.

In the long range, Canadian air tries to push in for the last weekend of August. IF this comes to fruition, we could get a very refreshing taste of early fall under breezy conditions, very low humidity, and highs in the 70’s. I don’t think we are completely done with the heat, but any very warm/hot weather after this Friday – next Thursday stretch should be short-term as our fronts become more sharp and move faster.
