New York City Long Range Outlook September October
Good morning everyone. We continue to watch Hurricane Lee and the impacts it’ll have in the Northeast, but we also switch gears to look at the long range forecast since Lee will be gone soon. Hurricane Lee is on a direct path towards eastern Maine/Western Nova Scotia, and will bring strong tropical storm conditions to areas of Cape Cod and northeast up the New England Coast.
We’re also not completely out of the woods, as Hurricane Lee’s storm surge will bring areas of coastal flooding in low lying areas of Long Island and New York City. Expect tidal departures of 1-2 feet along the South Shore, and 1-3 feet along coastal areas of the LI Sound. This will be an issue today and tomorrow during high tide cycles.
Other than that, expect fairly quiet conditions and pretty much uneventful weather over the next couple of weeks. Check out the local forecast and long range below.
SATELLITE
For today, expect increasing clouds, especially the further east you go. We’ll have a pleasant and breezy day, with highs in the low to mid 70’s. Again, watch out for localized coastal flooding in flood-prone areas. The rule of thumb will be – if you get coastal flooding during a bad nor’easter, then you may see some flooding on this one.
WEATHER RADAR
Tomorrow we’ll have pretty much the same deal, except increasing sunshine as the day goes on, and slightly milder with mid 70’s throughout the area. It’ll remain breezy, then winds should calm down towards the evening.
Sunday is a perfect day, with sunshine, light winds, and highs near 80.
In the long range, we’re not done with 80/near 80 temps. It looks as if we’ll have another opportunity late next week for some very mild to warm temps. We could also see another brief round of very mild to warm temps to start October. Generally though, we are on the downward trend temp-wise, and the majority of our days look seasonable. As far as any systems are concerned, we look generally quiet and looking rather dry aside from a day here or there of scattered showers.
