NYC AUTUMN AIR ARRIVES MAJOR FLUCTUATIONS AHEAD
Good morning everyone. Autumn air has arrived into the New York City area, but it’ll be short-lived before warm air heads back in. It won’t be a good time for cold and bug season, because after our down and up, we go down again as the Pacific relaxes in regards to the tropics.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Clouds will stick around today with maybe a few peaks of sun. Our northerly flow early this morning has already begun to switch to the NE, giving us a damp feel to the air. That, combined with low to mid-level clouds, will keep us in the mid to upper 60’s today.
Winds go full east tonight and continuing tomorrow before turning to the southeast. This is the sign warmer air is coming, but it won’t be tomorrow. Expect sun and clouds and another seasonal one with highs in the mid to upper 60’s, breezy at the immediate shore. For Sunday, warmer air makes its way fully into the area. We’ll also dry out a bit cloud-wise, so look for more sun, a light southwest wind, and highs 75-80 (cooler at the immediate shore).

For next week, that warm air hangs on for several days. Look for sun and clouds every day, 75-80 for the stretch, but increasing humidity on Wednesday and Thursday as our next front nears. We could see a round of showers and storms Thursday, but as with many of the fronts we’ve had this season, most of the energy may go north of us.

In the long range, Thursday’s front signals the end to the tropical-pacific’s influence over our pattern. Starting Friday, we look to return to average fall temps and we may even sneak in some below average air for mid-October; especially if the maritime easterlies grab hold for several days. So for those who enjoy the warm temps, get out there and enjoy Sunday through Thursday, because this may be it aside from a day here and a day there.
