NYC SPOTTY AUTUMN TEMPS CONTINUE

NYC SPOTTY AUTUMN TEMPS CONTINUE

Good morning everyone. We have a gorgeous day today after a vigorous front and line of thunderstorms helped clear the air here in New York City. Meanwhile, prolonged autumn temps continue to allude us, but a brief break is on the way before another warmup.

Clouds have left the picture after a round of strong to severe storms transited the area last night. Had that same front moved through in the afternoon, we would’ve had some serious problems here as that type of setup is perfect for widespread, damaging severe weather for our area.

Either way, it helped pave the way for clear skies today and light west/northwesterlies; highs 75-80.

Tomorrow, we notch things up a bit in terms of humidity; so even though temps will be around the same aside from interior parts of Brooklyn and Queens, it’ll feel much warmer out there. Highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s in the notoriously warmer spots. We’ll also have the chance of thunderstorm lurking during the evening/overnight with a reinforcing shot of seasonal air heading in.

This will help set the stage for a cool Friday and cool start to our weekend on Saturday. Look for a stiff northerly flow on Friday, sunny skies, and highs 65-70. Then, we repeat the 60’s on Saturday, but we won’t drop much overnight as another warm airmass begins to spread our way. It looks as if it fully makes it in on Sunday, giving us that Jekyll and Hyde weekend I was talking about. Highs Sunday 75-80 with increasing humidity; not uncomfortable yet, but you’ll notice the difference from Saturday.

In the long range, that warm air wants to stick around for quite some time with the help of these tropical pacific disturbances messing up our “normal” flow. The potential is there we could be in the mid 70 to low 80 range Sunday to Sunday and humid, before autumn finally fights back and wins. It depends on the timing of relief in the form of yet another vigorous front, but it looks as if we go warm for a 5-7 day stretch.  After that, we could even see some highs dip below normal before modifying.
