NYC Beautiful Day Today Rainy Day Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. Today will be one of those days to get out and enjoy, because we have big changes coming up as far as a not-so-nice weekend. Our pattern continues to remain snow-hostile, but we look for any surprises as well as for any late-month pattern changes.

SATELLITE

Sunshine and above average temps will be the name of the game today before we cloud up late and rain heads in late overnight/early tomorrow. We won’t have anything extreme today as far as mildness, but lighter winds and upper 40’s to near 50 will feel still nice for this time of year. Remember, two years ago this week, we were saddled with single digits and teens for highs, so things could be much worse.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Rain heads in late overnight and early tomorrow morning. We should have several batches of steady rain move through during this period. I’m. not expecting 48 hrs of steady rain here, but we should have at least 1 period of steady rain tomorrow morning, then showery conditions throughout the day. Highs tomorrow in the mid to upper 40’s.

Batches of rain continue to move in and out tomorrow night, and Saturday looks more of the same. More mid to upper 40’s will be not he menu Saturday, then temps drop for Sunday as things begin to pull away.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

Some local weather outlets are calling for showers to linger Sunday AM. I’m not so sure about that, so we’ll hold off as things may clear out late Saturday night. For now, look for the slight chance of an early AM sprinkle, then partial clearing as a breeze develops. Temps will be significantly cooler, and we’ll be at the near-average mark of upper 30’s.

Seasonably cool weather continues on Monday will more sunshine and less wind, then our next system is already set to go for some time on Tuesday with some rain.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
storm free

There are no changes to the long range outlook compared to previous forecasts, and we remain snow-hostile towards major snowfall for the NYC area. Things could change pattern-wise late January, but we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes to fruition. Again, it is wintertime and there are ways to pull off a snowstorm, but they’re long-shot scenarios and there’s nothing on the immediate horizon.
