NYC BELOW NORMAL TEMP STRETCH LOCKED IN
Good morning everyone. Cool air continues to filter into the New York City area, with a reinforcing shot coming in tonight. This will be the story for quite some time as our pattern is essentially locked in. Meanwhile, we continue to watch moisture hanging around to Gulf to see if at any point in the next few weeks, it hooks up with the northern jet to create any coastal systems.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Bright sunshine will be with us today, but it’ll be a windy one with temps slightly below normal. This modification from yesterday is “warmer” air ahead of our reinforcing shot of cooler air; which will give is a relatively cold night tonight. Look for highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s and a stiff west wind 15-20mph with higher gusts. Overnight, we go down into the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Gusty winds overnight will save the area from any frost prospects, even in slightly colder areas out on Long Island. However, we could have a hard freeze north and west of the NYC area, so watch any plants you still have outdoors.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow will be the coldest day of this stretch, with highs only 45-50 for the area and that stiff wind continues. Upper 30’s to near 40 continue as lows for tomorrow night, with low to mid 30’s out on Long Island. On Friday, we modify back into the 55-60 realm, but that gusty wind continues ahead of yet another reinforcing shot of cooler air.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
For the weekend, we could have some showers moving through Saturday morning with that system passing by; replaced by lingering clouds and highs dropping into the 50’s from low 60’s earlier in the morning. Sunday is looking clear and breezy, and temps well below normal with upper 40’s to low 50’s as highs.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
In the long range, we continue to watch for any coastal system prospects. As of this moment, we have no immediate threats, but the ingredients are there if something wants to get going over the course of the next several weeks. This time of year we watch along the Gulf coast for any moisture moving west to east; and that energy being picked up/combining with disturbances coming down from Canada.
Your Halloween Hail-Mary forecast from last week actually continues to hold; with a cool, dry, and breezy day still more likely than not.
