NYC Clouds Continue To Haunt Region

Good morning everyone. We’re in one of those transitional phases as our pattern shifts slightly in a better direction, but we have to see this through before we can get to the other side on Sunday. With that transition, we’ll be stuck in the clouds today through Friday AM, and tomorrow afternoon looks like a rainy one. We’re also keeping an eye on the timing of cold air vs. the moisture leaving, to see who wins out. If the cold air wins, we could see a mix of some rain and wet flakes, or a brief majority of wet flakes as everything moves out late overnight Thursday into very early Friday AM.

We’re up for a cloudy day today and light ENE winds. That’ll give us a raw feel even though temps will be a seasonably average near 50 degrees.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

Clouds and near 50 temps stick around tomorrow, and rain will move in by mid to late afternoon. Rain may be heavy at times overnight, with a decent 1″+ of rain out of this system. Things may get complicated if cold air aloft beats out the moisture leaving. That may change things to a rain/snow mix, or maybe even wet snow in spots. Best chance of seeing this happening is N&W (maybe well N&W) of the NYC area. As stated previously, forecast models don’t handle March very well and don’t take into consideration previous factors.

a) It will have been raining all night and the ground will be soaked

b) Temps will be above freezing

That’ll make it very hard for snow to accumulate in our area, especially if it’s a wet snow and it’s brief in duration.

We’ll see how it goes but Friday is a cold day regardless. Expect partial clearing throughout the day, windy, and highs only near 40.

We modify a bit on Saturday with sunshine and mid 40’s, then we break out into a better pattern temp-wise on Sunday with mid to upper 50’s.
