NYC CLOUDS SHOWERS RETURN FOLLOWING SUNNY REPRIEVE
NYC CLOUDS SHOWERS RETURN FOLLOWING SUNNY REPRIEVE – Good afternoon everyone! If you’re out there enjoying the sun, things are about to change as the upper level low pressure system stuck in Pennsylvania sends a spoke of clouds and scattered showers our way. Over the next few hours, clouds will spin into our area and while most of the energy will go to our north as far as rain, we still have a chance at some showery conditions and maybe even a rumble of thunder if we get some help with the energy from the spring sun. Highs have reached their peak today of 60-65 in most areas and we will begin to cool off with the help of some gusty winds and those eventual clouds.
Clouds stick around tomorrow and Monday with the prospect of some more widely scattered showers. We’re near 60 tomorrow but then temps drop into the upper 50’s on Monday as cooler air rushes in behind this departing low. Even with decreasing clouds, temps remain cool on Wednesday, but we’ll slowly modify into the 60’s again with the approach of another system.
Over the NEXT weekend, we have another shot at a fairly vigorous low pressure, but timing and path is not set in stone yet. We’ll keep an eye on it and pinpoint which day, if any, will be the best day of the weekend. In the long range, cool air sticks around with no signs of late spring until the last 1/3 of May. This is when a large ridge will build in the Midwest and slowly drift east. As with any chance of very warm air this time of year, we’ll have to wait and see if the chance increases or decreases of it panning out, but the potential is there for some 80’s IF it does.
