NYC Cloudy Showery Day Today Very Mild Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. Clouds are already socked into the area with a few rogue showers around. That’s in response to a frontal system heading our way, which will be responsible for a very mild day tomorrow. We’re still watching our late week system, but a “warmer” solution remains in place for the NYC area. That doesn’t mean we can’t see some snow, and I’ll explain below.

Look for cloudy skies to continues today, then the chance of PM showers. Most of the energy is going to our north on this one, but we could still see a period of steady rain out of this. Expect highs in the mid 50’s, then remaining steady/rising overnight.

We’ll have AM clouds and PM sunshine tomorrow. Very mild air will be in place temporarily, and we should see some low to mid 60’s tomorrow depending on how much sunshine we get.

WEATHER RADAR

The clouds will start increasing again on Thursday ahead of an overrunning airmass. Cold air will sneak in from the north, and we could see some PM light snow or a rain/snow mix. Depending on how much cold air works in, we’re looking at possibly a coating to 2″ on grassy/colder surfaces before we see a full wintry mix or changeover to cold rain. Highs in the upper 30’s to near 40, mid 30’s overnight Thursday.

For Friday, any rain/snow mix we might have, goes to a plain cold rain in the NYC/LI area. We’ll have highs in the near 40/low 40 range, and that should melt away any snow accumulations (if any at all).

Best chance to see some big numbers snowfall-wise will be N&W of the NYC area and New England, where 6-12″+ of snow could fall depending on when/if any mixing occurs.

Your weekend is looking quiet and cold, with sunshine on Saturday and mid 30’s; then sun & clouds Sunday with mid 30’s again. The long range continues to look quiet, and we should enter March without any major snowfall for the NYC/LI area.
