NYC Comfortably Warm Day Today

Good morning everyone. Comfortable conditions are here, with near-average temps, relatively low humidity, and light northerly winds. Things will be transition though to a more humid period, and that will be helped along by a period of rain and thunder tomorrow night.

For today, we have Dewpoints in the 50’s, humidity hovering between the 45-55%, and highs in the 80-85º range for a perfect mid-August day. Clouds will increase tomorrow after some morning sunshine, and humidity will slowly increase as well. Highs will be in the low 80’s depending on when those clouds arrive. Late evening, onward, we’ll look for clusters of heavy showers and thunderstorms to form. For those who see prolonged heavy rain, we could see some localized flooding overnight tomorrow.

WEATHER RADAR

Rain and thunder will come to an end early Monday morning, then we expect some partial clearing, muggy conditions, and highs in the mid 80’s. Tuesday and Wednesday look like the warmest of the bunch, with muggy conditions and highs in the mid to upper 80’s.

Some clouds return on Thursday with the slight risk of a few showers or storms. Highs in the muggy mid 80’s. Highs pressure tries to build back on Friday as a front passes, but it could get hung up; then a wave moving along it. For the moment, I’m going to call for low 80’s, decreasing clouds; then increasing clouds again with he chance of some late rain. We still have a while on this, so we’ll keep a lookout.
