NYC Cooler Pattern Tries To Lock In After Small Mild Stretch

Good morning everyone. We have a fairly nice stretch coming up before a cooler pattern tries to lock in. That’s not to say we can’t have a mild day here or there, but it’ll probably be front related rather than 4-5 day blocks of mild conditions.

For today, look for sun & clouds with highs in the mid 60’s. Overnight remains chilly with a cooler flow and clearing skies, lows in the 40-45 range.

Things go milder tomorrow with sunshine and 70-75 degree temps. A milder night will help give Friday a good springboard, with lows in the low 50’s to near 60 depending on your location.

WEATHER RADAR

Friday is a treat with more sunshine and highs 75-80, then clouds begin to creep in on Saturday. We’ll remain on the mild side and we should stay dry for Saturday, but highs will be slightly cooler with the cloud cover. As of now I will go with low to mid 70’s. More sunshine OR more clouds could make things go a little warmer or a little cooler.

On and off showers spread over the area Sunday and it’ll be cooler out. However, we’re still on the seasonable side with mid 60’s.

The long range continues to trend cooler due to a pattern change on the west coast. Things will finally begin to dry out, but that means the flow will come from central Canada into the midwest and across the Great Lakes. This will result in several reinforcing shots of cooler air. Remember, the sun is getting stronger, so air will modify quickly and we’re not looking at frigid weather; but we could see 50’s/60’s for highs and colder than average nights.

For those looking to do your planting, this is why traditionally we hold off till Mother’s Day here in NY. I would say it’ll hold true this year and hold off.
