NYC Dangerous Conditions Possible Late Tomorrow Through Tuesday

Good morning everyone. All is quiet today and that’ll give us a nice breather before our next train of moisture starts pushing in. This one will be very complicated with some “warm” air in the mid layers of the atmosphere and cold air trapped at the surface. It’ll also be in piece-meal fashion until a more organized system arrives on Tuesday.

Enjoy the sunny skies today, although the sun won’t do much. Expect temps in the mid to upper 20’s and a steady breeze creating some colder wind chills, so dress warm.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

We should have some morning sun tomorrow before cloud begin to increase. Highs in the upper 20’s. Precipitation should start moving in before midnight tomorrow night, and that’ll come down in the form of some light sleet and freezing rain. We could see a few snowflakes as well, but the main concern is the freezing rain. Temps will remain steady in the upper 20’s, and that’s where the problems begin.

On and off light to moderate sleet and freezing rain continues into Sunday, with temps hovering around the freezing mark. I’m not going to go into amounts here, because all you need is a little bit of icing to cause a big problem.

The train of moisture continues on Monday, with more scattered light freezing rain and sleet possible. It’ll be one of those things where some areas will see some, other areas won’t. We’ll keep an eye on the radar during these periods of light & scattered precip.

A more organized system moves in on Tuesday, but the same problem still persists. They’re all following a similar path as that cold air remains trapped. We won’t call the ball on Tuesday yet, but we dance that rain/snow line again. 20-30 miles in path will make a difference, and there is a risk for a heavier round of freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow.

Stay Tuned.
