NYC Earns Perfect Independence Day

Good afternoon everyone and Happy 4th of July! Last time I was on here, we discussed whether moisture would get hung up along the east coast or perfect timing would get high pressure in here to give us 1 clear day. The timing worked out and we have a 4th that’s as good as it gets as high pressure pushes everything down into my area of South Carolina.

For the rest of the day, expect full sunshine and mid 80’s with very low humidity and a very light NW breeze. Lows overnight will only dip into the upper 60’s, which is the sign humidity and moisture will increase.

That’ll ring true with a mix of sun and clouds, a more humid day tomorrow, and the chance of a few showers and storms. We’ll also have mid to upper 80’s for the day.

WEATHER RADAR

Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week with more sun and clouds, the slight chance of a storm, and upper 80’s to near 90 in a few spots.

Humidity and temps break again on Thursday with more sun & clouds, highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. Clouds will lower and thicken as warmer air tries to fight back for the weekend, and that’ll come at the cost of showers and storms for Friday with a humid low 80’s.

Overall, we are seeing a rare fast-moving pattern for this time of summer. As long as this keeps going, periods of very warm to hot air will be very brief, with the hottest temps suppressed south and to our west. It’ll also equate into a rainier portion for at least this part of the summer, but no true washouts or prolonged gloom. We should’ve experienced our first heatwave at this point or about to experience one, so let’s see what happens down the road in this rare pattern. It could equate into a hotter than average late July and August, or we might stick with it for a cooler than average summer (or at least cooler than the summers we’ve seen lately).
