NYC Fall Gears Turning Quickly
10/12/24 9:56am ET
Good morning everyone. We have a lot going on over the next few days in the Northeast, Great Lakes region, and even back down into Florida as Fall wants to start to filter in, while tropical energy tries to fight back. In the Northeast, a cold front will sweep through tomorrow and Monday, bringing with it much cooler air after a round of heavy showers & thunderstorms; especially in parts of Pennsylvania and western/upstate New York.
In areas such as Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, we’ll see that front begin to pass through later today. As low pressure comes out of the Upper Midwest, we could see it help energize that front and set off some heavy showers and thunderstorms across parts of the mentioned areas. With these scattered thunderstorms tonight and overnight, we could see some locally damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain.
Our last stop takes us back to Florida, where tropical moisture is beginning to bubble up again from Cuba. This will help set off some scattered heavy tropical showers and thunderstorms across the southernmost part of the Florida peninsula, including parts of the Florida Keys. Look for locally strong winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk for some waterspouts. Over the next several days, we’ll be watching for this activity to increase in nature.
Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
We’ll have sunshine to day with mild temps and pleasant conditions. Highs in the low to mid 70’s are expected across a wide area. Tomorrow, clouds increase and we’ll have the chance of a few showers and rumbles in the afternoon. If clouds hold off, we could hit 70 before the sun goes away.
WEATHER RADAR
Look for AM showers on Monday, then partial clearing and becoming breezy. Highs in the mid 60’s at best.
By Tuesday, we drop into the upper 50’s with breezy conditions, then low 50’s on Wednesday for a very cool day. Lows overnight on both Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be in the low 40’s realm, so away from the City, we could see some frost if the winds lighten up.
