NYC Forecast Holds Tonight & Tomorrow
Good morning everyone. Yesterday morning we talked about our approaching cold front, a narrow line of storms, and that we were keeping an eye on a wave that may form along the front as it leaves. We continue to watch this scenario play out, and focus on who may be at risk for some additional flooding due to Henri & Ida’s rain.
SATELLITE
For today we’ll have sunny skies, humid conditions, and highs in the low to mid 80’s. Clouds will increase late, and we’ll have the slight chance of a late thunderstorm. With most of the initial energy going to our north and west, the best chance to see any organized storms will be in NW NJ, Central NJ, Catskills (NY), and the lower Hudson Valley some time between 8pm – 1am. For those in NEPA, this line will come through a little earlier and will be a little more robust.
After that initial push, we’ll be watching the formation of a small wave or cluster of storms to our southwest that’ll ride to the Northeast. That’ll give us our best chance of some showers and embedded rumbles, plus some more rain for NW NJ and Central NJ. For this reason, we have flash flood watches posted for eastern PA, Upstate NY, Central, and NW NJ. It’s also nipping on the heels of NYC and may need to be adjusted depending on how the radar lights up.
For those in the watch area (or potential watch area), please take precaution to protect life and property. At this point, we pretty much know where the danger zones are in terms of where not to park, drive, or sleep.
Again, this is ONLY because of the previous rain as we would’ve normally been able to easily absorb this type of mediocre event.
WEATHER RADAR
We’ll have some leftover clouds and showers Thursday AM, and I think we get most of it out some time between 9 and 11am. We’ll have partial clearing late, with highs near 80.
Friday is looking sunny and pleasant, with low humidity and highs in the upper 70’s.
We’ll continue the nice weather, with sunshine on Saturday and more mid 70’s; then we go warmer on Sunday with more sunshine and mid 80’s.
