NYC Forecast Remains Stable Sunday Monday
Good morning everyone. As expected, clouds have moved into the area as low pressure nips Cape Cod with some rain and slams into Nova Scotia. We’ll have some enhanced tides today and a windy day overall, but nothing else is expected for us with this impressive system. Meanwhile, we continue to watch our next system stepping into the batter’s box. Not much has changed overnight, and I don’t foresee any big surprises here in terms of major shifts.
SATELLITE
Look for cloudy skies today with a few blue patches before sunset. It’ll be a breezy/windy one, with highs in the near 40 range. Frigid air gets pulled down by departing low pressure, and we drop into the singles digits to low teens overnight. Windy conditions will send wind chills into the negative realm, so stay inside if you can.
WEATHER RADAR
Frigid air holds on tomorrow, and we’ll have sunny skies, breezy conditions, and highs in the upper teens to low 20’s. Winds calm down overnight and we drop into the single digits to near 10.
Sunday we begin watching our system and one of the only changes in our next system will be a slightly earlier arrival. It doesn’t change the outcome, and I really only see 2 possible scenarios out of this one. Look for increasing clouds Sunday, and the chance of snow beginning some time between 10pm and 2 am.
Depending on the final track, that chance of snow will either be very brief or more prolonged, but either way, it’s going to rain here in the NYC area and Long Island. Expect rain, heavy at times on Monday, low to mid 40’s, and the slight chance of a brief changeover back to snow (also depending on the final track).
This system will be impressive for those who see all or mostly snow, but it’s tapping a lot of gulf moisture and will have a decent amount of warm air wrapped in it. For it to be an all snow event for NYC, it would have to be well offshore. Even if the low were to pass slightly offshore, NYC still sees a period of heavy rain. Sorry folks.
