NYC Front Passing Through Then Major Temp Drop
Good late morning everyone. We have our strong front passing by, then rain will give way to a major temperature drop. After that, we have 1 cold night and day before milder air returns. In the long range, things look interesting as we head towards March, but that doesn’t always equate to snow. At minimum, the month wants to come in like a lion, but whether that’s a lazy lion just making a lot of noise, or a fierce one tearing shit up, will all come down to what’s available.
SATELLITE
Rain will continue for a couple of more hours, then we’ll have partial clearing and dropping temps. Right now as I type, we’re near 60, but temps will fall through the 40’s then 30’s. Overnight lows will be in the mid 20’s in most spots with windy conditions.
Tomorrow, sunshine prevails and breezy conditions will give way to lighter winds. It’ll feel chilly with that early breeze, and we’ll have highs in the low to mid 40’s.
WEATHER RADAR
Milder air returns on Sunday for a perfect February day. Look for more sunshine and highs near 50. Our workweek starts off perfect, with sunshine continuing and highs in the mid 50’s.
Near 50 to mid 50 temps hang on Tuesday through Wednesday, but our next system begins to approach on Wednesday. Expect this one to be a long, drawn-out affair, with one piece breaking off on Wednesday to give us increasing clouds and the slight chance of a few showers.
Then the meat and potatoes roll by on Thur/Fri with more cold air behind it.
In the long range, Friday appears to be cold and blustery, but we have to wait and see how long that cold air hangs on and where our next system goes. I don’t buy much into long range models and over-running setups with precip, so I’m going to sit back and be conservative on the long range.
What we do know is that it is more active as we near March, and colder air tries to get it’s revenge. The question is, is it a brief Doolittle Raid? Or do we get “nuked” with late winter surprise.
