NYC Some Winter Temps Left Milder Air Dominates
Good morning everyone. We have 2 more mild days ahead, albeit front-related and a rainy time, but much of the cold air left is fleeting. That being said, it’s not spring yet, and we will see some very cold days and nights here and there. Snow? Can’t help you with that.
SATELLITE
Clouds are on the move, but we’re off to a mostly to partly sunny start. That extra sunshine will help boost the NYC area into the mid 60’s, with maybe a few upper 60 hits here and there. Scattered showers head in between noon and 4pm, and those will stick with us through the night with temps hovering in the 55-60 range.
As stated Tuesday, front-timing will hold us back from record temps on Friday. Expect clouds and more rain, some of those showers may be heavy, and it’ll also be a windy one. Early highs in the low 60’s will drop through the 40’s and then possibly 30’s by sunset. It’ll be a cold and blustery one overnight, with lows in the mid to upper 20’s. Near 20/low 20 temps are possible away from the City.
WEATHER RADAR
Saturday remains looking cold, with a steady WNW flow and highs in the low to mid 40’s. Temps modify overnight on Saturday as we hover in the low to mid 30’s. Sunday still looks like a winner, with sun & clouds, highs in the upper 40’s to near 50.
To start next week, 50’s remain a stable with some rain possible by Tuesday night into early Wednesday. The next chance for some colder air looks to be on Friday into Saturday. We’ll see how cold we go, but the potential is there for a very cold Friday night into Saturday. However, the pattern has a tight hold on the area and cold air quickly modifies once again. There’s still no moderate/major snow in sight for the NYC area, and as each week passes, the more “perfect” a system has to be in order to pull off a storm.
The way we are looking now, trying to pull off a major storm would equate to trying to get one in November or April due to warmer than average water temps and a general lack of sustained cold air.
