NYC HEATWAVE RELIEF PROMISES BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND
NYC HEATWAVE RELIEF PROMISES BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND
NYC HEATWAVE RELIEF PROMISES BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND – Good morning everyone! Yesterday was as scorching hot as promised in NYC, and today is looking no different. We are in the midst of our hot stretch, but there is some major relief on the way, even if it’s only for a few days.
The searing heat continues today, with a blazing sun, hot and humid, hazy at times, and highs in the mid to upper 90’s. Tomorrow, we “cool” down a bit as the moisture content increases even more. Look for sunny skies to continue, a few puffy and high clouds here and there, highs in the low 90’s.
For the Fourth of July on Wednesday, low 90’s continue, and we add the slight chance of isolated, popcorn-like thunderstorms in the late afternoon/early evening. This shouldn’t impact any festivities for most areas, but some places could see a gusty, loud storm, with heavy rain and frequent lightning. We continue the low 90’s for Thursday, with sunny skies once again, but it should remain relatively dry and storm free.
Friday is when our change begins as a decent, but stretched out cold front begins to transit the area. Expect a very warm and humid day with highs in the upper 80’s. Timing will be key as far as severe weather, but look for the chance of showers and thunderstorms from mid to late afternoon onward. If the front nears the area later at night, the chance of severe weather will be somewhat diminished.
Next weekend, the skies will be a deep blue, the haze will be gone, and the air cleaned out temporarily. Saturday is looking breezy and comfortable, highs in the low 80’s. Sunday is looking equally as beautiful, maybe a little less breeze, but comfortable with highs in the low 80’s.
As far as the marine forecast is concerned, today and tomorrow are looking like your best days to go beyond the inlets and do some near-shore fishing at the local wrecks and reefs. 2ft seas and a gentle roll will dominate today, overnight, and tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday are still look pretty good, but we add a few 3 footers into the mix. On Friday, keep an eye to the sky in the afternoon, plus winds increase with the approaching front. The weekend is looking a little breezy to go beyond the inlets. However, if you’re a sailor, the weekend is looking excellent for some wind generated power.
