NYC HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED TONIGHT CALM SUNDAY AHEAD
Good morning everyone. Clouds have moved in rather quickly ahead of a fairly vigorous warm front pushing towards the New York City area. This well help touch off some heavy rain overnight, but will clear the area for a pleasant 2nd half of the weekend.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Expect light rain to begin by late afternoon/early evening today with highs in the upper 40’s to low 50’s. An easterly wind developing, plus the cloud cover, will help keep things feeling raw as the day wears on.
Overnight, a wave which has already begun to form, will help enhance the precip; giving us widespread moderate rain, with heavy periods of rain at times. It’s not being discussed, but don’t be surprised to hear a clap of thunder or two. When all is said and done, we could see 1-2′ of rain, locally higher in spots. That means ponding on the roadways overnight and maybe a few deeper patches of water in the known poor drainage areas.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow we clear things out quickly, with increasing sunshine and a stiff NW breeze leftover. However, with no cold air in sight, we’ll get into the upper 40’s to low 50’s; which is around normal this time of year. Overnight tomorrow, we start clouding up for the next system I previously discussed.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
This is a fast moving, wet pattern we are in, and systems will be close in unison. Look for a similar setup Monday to what we’ll be experiencing today/tonight. Look for rain to start before sunrise Monday, then a steady rain, heavy at times, and highs in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
After Monday’s bout of rain, we clear out and cool off to a slightly below normal realm. Expect low to mid 40’s almost the entire week and dry conditions. Our next chance of any rain after Monday looks to be late next weekend as of now, with another system following that one close on it’s heels.
So look for that one-two punch, then a block of dry, and another one-two punch, to continue.
