NYC HEAVY RAIN MOVING INTO AREA FLOOD WATCHES REMAIN
Good morning everyone. Heavy rain with some embedded rumbles of thunder is about to make its move into the NYC area. Flood watches remain up as the south to north moisture fetch could bring copious rain to the same spots over a prolonged period.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Expect rain, heavy at times, with a few gusty rumbles of thunder mixed in for good measure. Nothing severe is expected and the biggest concern is localized flooding in poor drainage areas. This batch should be gone by late morning, then expect the chance of some showers at any time as low pressure parks itself to our west. Highs in the mid 60’s.
For Easter Sunday tomorrow, we’ll keep the clouds in the area as well as the chance of some scattered showers with the sun working the atmosphere and low pressure still off to our west. It won’t be a washout and highs should be just about average in the low to mid 60’s.
REGIONAL RADAR
For Monday, we’re still dealing with this cut off low. Some good news in all of this, we should be kicking it out a little early. Look for some more clouds, maybe some peeks of sun, and the slight chance of a few more showers, highs in the low to mid 60’s again Monday.
However, Tuesday is looking better and we might end up achieving the best day of the week. Expect morning clouds and sun, then partly cloudy skies. Light winds and sun will combine to get us into the 70-75 range for Tuesday as long as that low is well away from the coast.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Mid-Week, another system approaches and it is fairly weak. I think we squeeze out one more dry one for Wednesday with increasing clouds, then maybe a shower or two overnight. We’ll have to wait and see if it fully clears the area or not on Thursday, and that’ll dictate whether we see another shower or not, or decreasing clouds. Friday is also questionable with another system heading our way and the timing suspect for now. Regardless, we hover around average to slightly above average during the mid to late week period.
