NYC ICEBOX QUICKLY MODIFIES
Good morning everyone. We have a brutal cold start and finish to the day here in the New York City area, but there is light at the end of the tunnel rather quickly meteorologically speaking.
EASTERN SATELLITE
You’re waking up to low single digits this morning and dangerously cold weather; and things will remain rather uncomfortable today as we only get into the teens today. Overnight, we have another brutal one brewing with temps dipping down to the 5-10 degree range for most of the area.
REGIONAL RADAR
While tomorrow will still be very cold, we begin our climb out of the basement already. Expect low 20’s tomorrow, then we’re already back to normal on Saturday, so hang in there. Sunday remains looking comfortable, but temps may not rise so quickly (yet). Look for upper 30’s to low 40’s, then the milder air begins to move in on Monday.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
What we’ll experience in terms of mild air, will be front related and won’t last long, but it’ll last longer than some of the other brief mild shots we had during the winter so far. Expect sunny skies Monday, then increasing clouds late, highs 45-50.
Then on Tuesday, that front begins to near and we may break 50 degrees in spots. I’m going to stay conservative on this one for now and keep things at 50 for Tuesday; especially since clouds and precip will be nearing. For Wednesday, we’ll have a shot at some more rain and highs in the 45-50 range for now as I remain conservative but mild for this time of year.
On Thursday, we may be able to squeeze one more mild one out before that front fully clears the area, then cold weather ushers back in after some more rain.
