NYC Isolated Severe Weather Possible & Inconsistent Pattern Ahead
Good morning everyone. We have a lot going on and very little going on all at once……if that makes any sense. We’re straddling the boundary today between cooler maritime air, and the milder air that will make it back into the area today. Cooler air is on the move, as is the wind machine coming, but the cool air won’t last. In the big picture, the mild/warm air won’t last either as we expect a yo-yo of temps for the next 2 weeks.

We’re in the gloom today, yet we remain mild as we find ourselves on the “right” side of the front. Scattered showers will move over this boundary, so expect some on and off drizzle and brief tropical-like showers. Highs today will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s depending on your proximity to the shore.
Later tonight through very early tomorrow morning (prior to sunrise), we have the chance of some strong nocturnal storms. Where they pop up will depend if we see anything, but some of them may produce gusty winds, torrential rain, and frequent lightning.
We’ll have the slight chance of an AM shower tomorrow, then partial clearing ensues and the wind picks up. Winds may gust close to 40-45mph, and highs will be in the upper 60’s to near 70. Overnight tomorrow, we go unseasonably chilly with low 40’s for the NYC area, and 30’s away from Gotham. Valleys upstate that are protected from the winds may see some scattered frost.
Your weekend is looking nice, but Saturday remains breezy. We’ll have sunshine, a stiff breeze, and highs in the low to mid 60’s Saturday; then we modify to low to mid 70’s Sunday with light winds.
Overall, our pattern is looking very inconsistent in the long range. The start of next week is looking very mild/warm, but then we may sink back into the 60’s or maybe even 50’s in some spots. We’ll watch for fronts and/or low pressure systems getting hung up in the area, which is typical this time of year. Just be aware that we could have an 80 degree day here and there, mixed in with unseasonably cool or chilly days.
