NYC LIGHT SNOW CHANCE HOLDS ON
Good morning everyone. A clipper-esque type system is still on schedule for the New York City area Wednesday night, but questions remain as to what we see out of it, if anything at all. Meanwhile, more rain is in store for the area this weekend, and the first shot of cold air I discussed in the March outlook several days ago is coming together nicely in terms of panning out.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Sunny, cold, and windy conditions dominate today, with highs in the mid to upper 30’s and wind chills in the teens. Overnight, we drop into the actual upper teens, with possibly low to mid teens away from NYC proper.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow, we begin to cloud up and remain cold. Winds will relax though as a sign one system is departing and another approaching.
Overnight tomorrow, we’ll have the chance of some light snow. I’m still not feeling it in terms of us getting the bulk of the energy and still feel most of it slides to our north. This can go a few ways – we can wake up with absolutely nothing, a dusting or coating, or an upside surprise. As far as the upside surprise, the best chance would be eastern Long Island IF one were to happen.
I’m sticking to my guns and remaining conservative on this unless I see any huge changes. I’m thinking the NYC area sees a dusting to a coating at best, nothing at worst. The further east you go, the chances increases for maybe a touch more if anything happens at all; and the upside would be 1-2″, nothing major.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
After those shenanigans, we slightly modify our temps Thursday and Friday. Look for clouds and sun Thursday with highs in the upper 30’s and light northerlies. Then on Friday, we begin to cloud up again with our next system approaching, highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.
For your weekend, I still see some snow possible quickly changing to rain by Saturday morning. There will be no chances for frozen precipitation Saturday with highs in the 40’s and a cold, raw, day.
On Sunday, we go windy and cold again as the process repeats; highs in the mid to upper 30’s.
