NYC LIGHT SNOW EXPECTED MIXING ISSUES POSSIBLE
Good morning everyone. Sunny skies and seasonably cool temps rule the roost today before we start to increase the clouds tomorrow. Those clouds will represent our next system and another small addition to our paltry snow totals for the season so far. We’re chipping away slowly and if all goes well by mid-week, we could be half way to average for the season in Central Park.
EASTERN SATELLITE
For today, a small system slips far enough to our south to keep sunshine in the forecast. Look for bright skies and highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Overnight, we dip down into a seasonably cold mid to upper 20’s, maybe some low 20’s away from the City.
SNOW MAP GENERATED – SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY AM
Tomorrow, clouds increase as our next system begins to approach; highs in the upper 30’s. Light snow will move in late overnight, but there may be issues with mixing, keeping the period of snow on the brief side. Unless I see any big changes, I’m keeping totals slightly lower than some other outlets. Obviously, the less mixing, the higher we go; but I’m just not overly impressed with this system overall.
Any snow that does fall will possibly mix with sleet, freezing rain, and rain before sunrise Monday, then to all cold rain before ending late morning/early afternoon. Highs Monday in the mid to upper 30’s.
REGIONAL RADAR
On Tuesday, full sun returns, but then clouds increase once again with our bigger system. We’re going to take one system at a time and hold off calling the ball for Wednesday into Thursday. However, at this moment, it looks like we have a snow changing to mix/rain scenario.
We’ll pin down timing of each layer as we get closer.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
For our entrance into the weekend, Friday dries out with low to mid 40’s, then the weekend itself could be a split depending on the timing of our next system. Saturday is looking ok so far with mid 40’s and clouds/sun, but we could see some rain late on Sunday.
Stay tuned.
