NYC SNOW RAIN RINSE REPEAT

Good morning everyone. Mild air has swung by for a quick visit today, then we return to seasonably cold air but nothing extreme. Systems continue to look somewhat unimpressive. Even the “stronger” ones would be considered relatively weak during a “normal” winter, but we address them all.

EASTERN SATELLITE

For today, we’ll have cloudy skies and highs in the low 50’s. There will be a very slight chance of showers as a cold front representing a reinforcing shot of cool air, swings by.

Tomorrow, that compact and weak area of energy goes well south with not even a brushing, so we remain dry, sunny, and cool; highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

On Sunday, we remain dry and sunny for the first part, then cloud up towards late evening. We’ll have highs in the mid to upper 30’s, then not dropping much overnight as a weak system approaches the area. There will be a slight chance of light snow overnight (possibly mixed with or changing to rain) and into early Monday morning, but don’t expect any sticking in the NYC area if we get any flakes at all.

REGIONAL RADAR

We clear out partially on Monday with some lingering clouds, and rise back up into the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Sun returns Tuesday, but that’ll be temporary as we await the next system. We’ll dip back into the mid to upper 30’s, setting us up for possibly some flakes late Tuesday night.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Our mid-week system continues to look mediocre and weak replay of last week. Think of Sleet Monster, but drawn onto a map with my left foot and a broken crayon. As of now, we’re looking at the chance of some snow changing to a mix of rain and snow, then all rain. Unless anything big changes, I don’t see anything sticking on the ground past Tuesday night; then we get this piece-meal event with precip through Thursday in varying waves.

Not a big deal, but we’ll pinpoint the precip type and timing as we get closer.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

The long range continues to look very hostile towards any major snowstorm as of this moment. We also see signs of the coldest of air retreating well north into Canada, while keeping seasonably cold/cool air in the region here. The flow remains very weak and while it’s not a perfect zonal flow, its pretty close to a west/east flow, keeping anything of significance at bay for the moment.
