NYC Long Range Forecast Shows Mostly Seasonable Conditions

06/02/24 11:27am ET

Good late morning everyone. We have a lot going on today weather-wise; although not much in the Northeast, and it looks to pretty much stay that way for a few days. Even if time runs out for the dry weather up there, we still hold onto fairly seasonable temps.

We’re looking at seasonably warm, average, to seasonably cool weather to continue for the next 2 weeks or so. However, we’ll be watching for a change in the pattern as far as where our systems come from, so it’s quite possible we could get a few unseasonably cool days mixed in as low pressure systems try to come down from Canada and meander. The timeline on those prospects look to be the 2nd and 3rd week of June.

Things remain hot action-wise in the Upper Midwest, the Central Plains, and down into Texas for a new risk of severe weather. While we don’t have any watch areas issued as this article is being typed, we do have areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms ranging from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and brushing parts of north Texas.

Some of these storms have embedded severe weather, so we are seeing a few severe thunderstorm warnings issued. As the heating of the day works the land and the atmosphere ahead of these storms, look for more severe weather to develop, and we could see a few watches issued out of this broken line

The largest risk of severe weather grows out of a new batch of energy entering the plains and a dry line forming behind the old storms. This will help create another broken line of storms, but some of those lines will be very formidable. As the late afternoon and evening wears on, this new batch of storms will be capable of very large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and strong tornadoes. The risk ranges from North Dakota all the down into Texas, and will come in the form of 4-5 large clusters from north to south.

Stay tuned to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings. Here is your local NYC Metro Forecast –
