NYC Low Temps This Weekend in the Teens

12/19/24 11:17am

Good morning everyone. Cold air is on the move into the Northeast, and for some, it’ll be the coldest air of the season so far. Our first cold front has passed through the Northeast & New England, which sets up the scenario for an approaching Clipper-like system.

Along the coast today, sunshine won’t help much as temperatures fall through the 40’s and 30’s. For interior sections, temperatures will scale back into the 20’s and remain there for tomorrow. As that next system approaches, look for light snow to break out across parts of Pennsylvania, interior New York, and northwest New Jersey tomorrow into early Saturday. Accumulations will be on the light to moderate side, with a general 1-4″ likely. However, could see some higher accumulations in the Poconos.

For the coast, we could see some onset mixed precipitation change to a cold rain, then back to light snow before ending. The big story though will be the cold to frigid air. Highs in the 20’s and 30’s on Saturday will give way to single digits and teens overnight. For Sunday and Monday, it is unlikely that we break 30 degrees in many spots, with more teens and single digits overnight Sunday.

Cold air finally begins to moderate a little bit, and more seasonable-like temperatures are expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with scattered light snow or flurries in the morning, then some late sunshine. High in the low to mid 30’s at best, then mid teens overnight. Sunday look for mid to upper 20’s, then 10-15 degrees overnight.
