NYC MARCH SEESAW CONTINUES

Good morning folks! We have a mild one in store for us today thanks to that large, slow moving system coming out of the plains. That’ll also provide us with another mild, but rainy day tomorrow before cooler air begins to work its way in. Meanwhile, our weekend forecast is holding nice and steady with no surprises.

EASTERN SATELLITE

You’ll be waking up to a cloudy and relatively mild morning for mid-March with temps in the low to mid 40’s already. We’ll have a few peeks of sun here and there today as areas away from the coast go for near 60 temps. A light ocean-sourced wind will keep areas near the south shore in the 50’s.

REGIONAL RADAR

I’ve been discussing this for several days now in which fog and drizzle could be blanketing the area tomorrow, and it looks as if we’ll be in and out of that soup. Everything is moving a lot slower than previously expected, so look for the slight chance of some rain early (in between the fog and mist), then a better chance late afternoon/evening. Again, some rumbles of thunder are possible.

With the bulk of the rain holding off, we could see some mid 60 temps away from the immediate shore. We’ll have to see how much the fog and mist influence our quest for 64+. Either way, we’ll have one more front-related mild day before we begin the cool-down process Saturday.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

For your weekend, Saturday remains looking sunny, windy, dry, and seasonal. Expect highs in the upper 40’s to low 50’s, then the cool stuff arrives Sunday with more wind.

The stiff breeze goes on for Sunday and we remain dry for St Patrick’s Day, but we’ll be below average with mid 40’s.

In the long range, cool air remains in place to start the week. A brief, reinforcing shot of cool air that’ll help keep the mid 40’s around for Tuesday, could touch off a rain or snow shower some time late Monday; but we already gravitate back towards normal on Wednesday.

Such is March with the seesaw, cycling between front-related mildness, then cool weather as everything passes. As far as any big snowy surprises and historic late-March blizzards, those remained confined to social media and not reality.

The gears of spring are most definitely turning and we are experiencing your textbook, plain vanilla March in the NYC area.
