NYC MEMORIAL DAY 2018 NOWCAST FORECAST

NYC MEMORIAL DAY 2018 NOWCAST FORECAST – Good morning everyone and happy Memorial Day. The last day of our 3 day weekend is upon us, and things aren’t looking as bad as it was several days ago. We also still have Alberto to deal with in the south, which is causing major issues flood-wise, and a nagging pattern that doesn’t want to release its grip.

For Today, we’ll have a cloudy and cool morning, then clouds and sun with highs in the low 70’s; possibly some mid 70’s if we can squeeze out some extra sun. As far as boating is concerned, the ocean is a mess right now and cruising around in the bay will be more comfortable (aside from the boat traffic and amateurs out there).

Tomorrow is still looking like a very warm one, maybe even on the hot side in a few places. Remaining moisture will be stubborn to leave, so we could have some patchy AM fog, especially by the coast. However, we’ll warm up real fast once it burns off and sinking air will help catapult us into the mid to upper 80’s, possibly low 90’s in some of our hotter spots. If the fog can burn off early enough, 80’s could be experienced all the way down to the immediate shore.

Overnight tomorrow, the maritime influence returns, but we’ll still have a pleasant Wednesday. Expect mid 70’s, bright sunshine, and a cool southeasterly fetch. This might cause a few a issues with rip currents at the beach though as any winds from the east tend to do that.

Clouds increase Thursday and they’re here with us for the longhaul thereafter. Look for a slight chance of showers Thursday, highs 70-75. Friday will be slightly warm with upper 70’s to low 80’s, but add in the chance of a rumble of thunder for good measure. Moisture left from Alberto and a slow moving frontal boundary will keep the slight chance of showers for the rest of next weekend, with mid to upper 70’s possible Saturday, then low to mid 70’s Sunday. No rainouts, but not perfect either. Keep an umbrella and light jacket handy for this period.

As far as Alberto is concerned, his precip field well ahead of the center is causing problems in NW Georgia now, as well as parts of SC and NC. Flooding rains continue as feeder bands wrap around the wide circulation. SE Florida continues to luck out, but flood watches remain up as that steady swatch of rain will eventually move onshore and cause issues. When he does come ashore today, heavy rain, flooding, and coastal flooding will be the main concern from Alabama to the panhandle of FL.
