NYC MILD COLD MILD WEEK AHEAD
NYC MILD COLD MILD WEEK AHEAD – Good morning everyone! For those who hate the cold, we have a brief reprieve today before cold air moves back in, but it won’t last long before mild air returns.
Breezy will be the name of the game for the next couple of days, regardless of temps. Today, look for highs near 50, with sun and clouds, and a gusty west wind. Overnight, we drop into the upper 30’s to near 40, then we don’t budge at all tomorrow. Highs near 40 with westerlies gusting 25-30mph.
Thursday will be the coldest day of the week with a brief arctic push. We’ll have very light winds and highs in the mid to upper 20’s. We quickly rebound on Friday, with mostly cloudy skies ahead of an approaching system, and highs in the upper 40’s to near 50.
Over the holiday weekend, a broad system will make its way in, with most of the energy going to our north. What this means for us is a mild and rainy Saturday, highs in the mid to upper 50’s. Things will be slow to clear out, so for Christmas Eve day, look for clouds and a few scattered showers possible, highs in the mid 40’s.
For Christmas Eve, the chance of rain increases once again as low pressure develops along the old front and rides north. Where this wave goes and the timing of colder air moving in, will dictate whether we see a rain changing to snow type situation for Christmas Day.
As I said Yesterday, there are a lot of “ifs” involved in this forecast and we’re not at the point yet in which we can totally rule out the prospect of some frozen precip for Christmas Day.
