WHITE CHRISTMAS LONGSHOT CONTINUES
WHITE CHRISTMAS LONGSHOT CONTINUES
WHITE CHRISTMAS LONGSHOT CONTINUES – Good morning everyone! Light mixed precip is changing to rain over the area as most of it slips to our south.
Things have been light enough at this point in which advisories are not even needed, but use caution this morning when driving, especially over colder surface such as bridges and overpasses.
Clouds hang around today for a damp day, but we’ll get back into the mid to upper 40’s in most places. Our light precip this morning is ahead of a warmer shield of air, and tomorrow is looking above average; it won’t last long though.
Look for low to mid 50’s tomorrow with clouds and sun, then cooler air filters back in with our up and down pattern this week. Wednesday will be breezy, with mid 40’s, then we’re back into the mid to upper 30’s for Thursday before warmer air moves back in.
Friday, we’re back near 50 again with a system heading our way and to our north. Clouds and showers look to be around next Saturday as it’ll take time for this system to pass, highs in the mid 50’s.
For Christmas Eve day, that front may linger, giving us scattered showers and clouds, highs in the mid to upper 40’s, then we keep a close eye on a last minute close call/surprise overnight and into Christmas morning.
Just like the first snow we had this season, we will be watching for a front to pass, then watch for maybe a wave developing along it as cold air moves in; then the wave move to our south shortly after. If this occurs and the timing is right, we could see some flakes in the air for Christmas morning or overnight before sunrise.
There’s a lot of ifs with this forecast and a lot has to pan out, but for those who enjoy the ultimate holiday experience of a White Christmas, the Chance lives on.
If you remember several weeks ago, I upped the chance of a “White Christmas” from our usual 10% chance, to 50% due to all of the cold air and abundance of systems. That 50% chance remains and we’re only 7 days away. Stay tuned!
