NYC Mild Day Today Cold Air Not Done Yet
Good morning everyone. As stated for the past several days, we have a typical early spring pattern emerging. While some interpret this as flowers, sunshine, and very mild temps, we are talking NYC early spring here; which means we will have a mix of mild days, seasonable days, and chilly days. Chilly air coinciding with any hypothetical system/system path, will decide if the season has any frozen precip left in its lungs.
SATELLITE
For today, the marine layer is hanging on strong this morning, which will equate to AM fog and low clouds. In most spots, it’ll all burn off, making way for a mild day in the 65-70 range. At the immediate coast, look for clouds to hold longer and some cooler temps.
Clouds increase again tonight, and we’ll have the chance of some showers before sunrise. On and off showers, with maybe a few rumbles, will grace us tomorrow. Look for highs 55-60.
WEATHER RADAR
Sunshine returns on Sunday and we’ll have a seasonable day in the 55-60 range. Mid 50’s to near 60 will remain with us through Wednesday, then we’ll be watching our next system. Don’t be surprised on Thursday if you see some brief mushy rain during the onset, and some onset snow/sleet upstate before quickly turning to cold rain.
Sunshine and seasonable/seasonably cool temps return for Friday and next weekend, but we are keeping an eye on the chance of both some mild air AND some chilly air. Thus is late March/early April, where the jet stream typically dips in the Northeast and the maritime air fights back.
