NYC MIX TONIGHT RAIN TOMORROW
NYC MIX TONIGHT RAIN TOMORROW – Good afternoon everyone! Things seem to be on schedule and we’re also getting a clearer picture for the weekend. First off, we have a large system pulling out of the midwest, giving us increasing clouds today. The air is slightly water today compared to our cold blast this past weekend, and highs should make it into the mid 30’s. As moisture spreads across the area, a brief mix of rain, sleet and snow should break out after midnight, before quickly changing to rain as temps rise through the 40’s overnight. No accumulation is expected at this time. Tomorrow will be windy and rainy into mid to late morning, with highs in the mid 40’s, helping melt the snow a little bit. For tomorrow night, more rain is expected late evening and into Thursday morning. Partial clearing will commence late afternoon on Thursday, with light southwest winds and temps 55-60; closer to 60 if we can get some extra sun. Friday will be partly sunny, with highs 50-55.
WEEKEND SNOW?
For Saturday, seasonably cold air will move back in and energy left behind will move it’s way in as a trough or wave along a stationary front to the south of us. This will create an over-running situation and the chance of some snow. As of now, it is too early to start talking about amounts, but chances are increasing of a snow event for Saturday night into Sunday. We’ll have to see how energized this wave is, if it develops at all, and how far to the south of us it goes. There are a lot of factors involved, but it is on my radar and I’m keeping a close eye on it. Either way, this is NOT a Nor’easter type event.
