RAIN TONIGHT JANUARY THAW TOMORROW – Good evening everyone and welcome to our first day of spring tomorrow, in January….A steady batch of rain is moving into our area as we speak and will be with us for several hours. Rain may be moderate to heavy at times with temps holding steady overnight in the upper 40’s. Tomorrow, there may be some sprinkles early in the morning, then partial clearing. Southwest winds tomorrow will pump in unseasonably mild temps. Even without any sun, temps will reach near 60 tomorrow in the NYC area. However, don’t be surprised to see mid to upper 60’s IF, and that’s a big IF, we get a period of sun in the early afternoon. Things begin to cool off for Friday, but will still be well above normal, with sunny skies and highs near 50.
STILL SOME SNOW POSSIBLE SATURDAY
After a very mild day Thursday, we are visited by reality once again for the weekend as cold air moves it’s way back in. During this process, the chance of an over-running snow event remains on the table. At this point, we will see a very light snow event, with maybe a dusting to an inch at best. The worst case scenario as far as any indicators would point to, would be the wave is more energized than we expected and it takes a jog to the north. Even so, this scenario would give us 2-3″ max and probability is low at this time. Highs Saturday will be in the low 30’s, upper 30’s on Sunday, and then moderate back into the 40’s again for the beginning of next week as we return to this pattern of quick moving mild/cool air masses.
